DESCRIPTION:September 17\, 2024 \n\n\n\nOn September 17\, 2023\, the preliminary round of the Eastern European Division of the 6th China (Jinan) New Energy Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition took place successfully in Budapest\, Hungary. The event was hosted by the Central and Eastern Europe-China Science & Technology Exchange Association (CEECSTE) and the Chinese Students & Scholars Association of Hungary. \n\n\n\n\n\nOpening Ceremony Highlights\n\n\n\nThe opening ceremony featured speeches by distinguished guests\, including: \n\n\n\n\nDavid Morris\, Vice Chairman of the United Nations Asia-Pacific Sustainable Business Network\,\n\n\n\nBíró Károly\, Mayor of Kozármisleny\, Hungary\,\n\n\n\nChen Kun\, Education Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Hungary.\n\n\n\n\nThe speakers emphasized the importance of fostering China-Hungary collaboration and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship. \n\n\n\n\n\nFocus Areas and Participation\n\n\n\nThe competition highlighted five key sectors\, including: \n\n\n\n\nBig Data\,\n\n\n\nIntelligent Manufacturing\,\n\n\n\nBiomedicine.\n\n\n\n\nThis division attracted 260 projects from over 20 countries and regions\, with more than 60% of project leaders holding doctoral degrees. The quality of submissions demonstrated significant improvement compared to previous years. \n\n\n\n\n\nCompetition Outcomes\n\n\n\n\nAfter a rigorous screening process\, 80 projects advanced to the preliminary round.\n\n\n\nThe CEECSTE provided personalized coaching and policy support to help the shortlisted projects prepare for the finals and establish their groundwork for implementation.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDeepening Collaboration\n\n\n\nTo enhance cooperation\, the Association organized a field trip to Jinan for finalist teams. This trip aimed to: \n\n\n\n\nFacilitate partnerships with local stakeholders\,\n\n\n\nProvide insights into Jinan’s innovation ecosystem\,\n\n\n\nFoster long-term collaboration between the project teams and Chinese enterprises.\n\n\n\n\nThe competition continues to be a vital platform for bridging global innovation talent with opportunities in China’s burgeoning energy and technology sectors.

The competition was organized by the Jinan Municipal Government and hosted by the Central and Eastern Europe-China Science and Technology Exchange Association (CEECSTE)\, the Laiwu District People’s Government\, and the Jinan Overseas Chinese Federation. \n\n\n\n\n\nFocus Areas and Participation\n\n\n\nThe competition concentrated on key areas\, including: \n\n\n\n\nBig Data and New-Generation Information Technology\,\n\n\n\nIntelligent Manufacturing\,\n\n\n\nBiomedicine\,\n\n\n\nNew Materials\,\n\n\n\nNew Energy.\n\n\n\n\nFrom 224 innovative and entrepreneurial projects submitted by participants from over 20 countries\, including China\, Hungary\, and Germany\, 80 projects advanced to the preliminaries. Ultimately\, 15 projects secured their spots in the Jinan finals. \n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Highlights\n\n\n\nThe event attracted more than 80 attendees\, including: \n\n\n\n\nLocal Hungarian representatives\,\n\n\n\nMembers of the overseas Chinese community in Hungary\,\n\n\n\nInternational students\,\n\n\n\nExpert judges\,\n\n\n\nRepresentatives of the participating projects.\n\n\n\n\nSpeeches were delivered by: \n\n\n\n\nHan Dongsheng\, Counselor of the Cultural and Educational Section of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Hungary\, and\n\n\n\nKőszegi Zoltán\, Mayor of Dabas.\n\n\n\n\nBoth speakers highlighted the significance of strengthening China-Hungary cooperation across multiple fields and encouraged participants to embrace the spirit of innovation. \n\n\n\n\n\nA Platform for Collaboration\n\n\n\nThe competition provided a valuable platform for showcasing groundbreaking ideas while fostering cross-border collaboration in science\, technology\, and innovation. With the finalists heading to Jinan\, the event reinforced its commitment to cultivating global partnerships and driving innovation in critical sectors.
