Association for Science and Technology Exchange

From May 30 to 31, 2025, the Tianjin Representative Office of the Central and Eastern Europe–China Science and Technology Exchange Association (Hungary) successfully hosted the China-Hungary Science, Culture, and Sports Exchange Event in Tianjin.
A 10-member Hungarian delegation, led by Mihály Witzmann, Member of Parliament and Vice Chair of the Parliamentary Economic Committee, visited key sites including the Tiankai Higher Education Science and Innovation Park, Tianjin Sports Museum, and the Tianjin Association for Science and Technology. The delegation also observed traditional Chinese sports competitions.
Wang Yaqun, Vice President of the Tianjin Association for Science and Technology, and Zhang Xueying, Chairwoman of Tiankai Group and Director of Tianjin Science and Technology Innovation Development Center, delivered speeches highlighting the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation in science, culture, and sports.
MP Witzmann shared insights into Hungary’s technological innovation, industrial growth, and cultural tourism. Both sides engaged in productive discussions aimed at strengthening ties and fostering future collaboration.

The delegation toured the Tianjin Sports Museum, exploring exhibitions such as “Tianjin and the Olympics” and “The Spirit of the Women’s Volleyball Team.” This visit deepened mutual understanding of the shared sports philosophy: “A strong nation starts with strong people, and strong people start with good health.”
The Hungarian guests expressed keen interest in the legendary Chinese athlete Mu Xiangxiong, known as the “Frog King,” and in Hungarian footballer Tamás Kádár’s connection to Tianjin. These stories further strengthened cultural ties through sports between the two nations.

On May 31, the delegation attended the 2025 Tianjin Haihe International Dragon Boat Race in person. After the event, both sides held in-depth discussions on race organization, talent development, and technical exchanges. They expressed hopes to expand future cooperation in rowing and related water sports, aiming to further promote cultural and sports exchanges between the two countries.

The signing ceremony for the China-Hungary Balaton Lake Region Alliance was held at the Tianjin Association for Science and Technology. The Tianjin Representative Office of the Central and Eastern Europe–China Science and Technology Exchange Association (Hungary) signed cooperation agreements with the cities of Siófok, Balatonszemes, and Igal.
The alliance will focus on collaboration in science and technology, education, cultural tourism, wellness, and sports. Key initiatives include project incubation, talent development, sporting events, and establishing a wellness alliance, aiming to create a multi-level platform for sustained exchange and cooperation.

The successful hosting of this event marks a new chapter in China-Hungary cooperation in science, culture, and sports. Both parties expressed their commitment to using this exchange as a starting point to further deepen collaboration and jointly promote the shared development of the two countries in the fields of science and technology, culture, and sports.
