On May 29, leveraging the opportunity of signing a sister city agreement, a 12-member Hungarian delegation led by Dr. Mihály Witzmann, Member of Parliament and Vice Chairman of the Economic Committee, and Mr. Róbert Lengyel, Mayor of Siófok, visited Dongchangfu District of Liaocheng. Mr. Liu Jiqiang, Standing Committee Member of the District Party Committee and Deputy District Governor (on secondment), attended the event.
The delegation toured several key sites, including the Dongchang Lake Scenic Area, the Tangyi Town photovoltaic power project, the Daokoupou cultural and creative street, and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum. These visits gave the guests a deep and vivid experience of Dongchangfu’s cultural innovation, industrial development, and traditional heritage.
At the subsequent exchange meeting, representatives from the delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with local government departments and key enterprises from Dongchangfu District. The topics included cultural promotion, economic cooperation, educational exchange, sports, and tourism. The Hungarian delegates expressed their appreciation for the district’s urban landscape and investment environment and showed strong interest in fostering further practical cooperation between Hungarian enterprises and Dongchangfu.
Mr. Liu Jiqiang remarked that he hopes this multi-dimensional and in-depth exchange will further strengthen the friendly ties and practical cooperation between Dongchangfu District and the city of Siófok, as well as the Balaton Lake Region. He emphasized the importance of coordinated development in policies, economy, and culture, and expressed confidence in jointly writing a new chapter of China-Hungary local cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
