Association for Science and Technology Exchange

In the summer of 2025, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) successfully hosted the Youth Science Volunteer Summer Camp, providing overseas Chinese youth with a valuable platform to explore China’s innovation ecosystem and cultural heritage. With the support of the Central and Eastern European–China Science and Technology Exchange Association, 23 participants from 10 countries—including the UK, France, Malaysia, Portugal, Canada, Austria, Denmark, South Africa, Hungary, and Spain—took part in the program across multiple regions of China.
The participants joined camp activities in eight cities—Nanjing, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Lanzhou, Harbin, Dongguan, Fuzhou, and Chongqing—experiencing China’s diverse regional development from northern cities to coastal hubs and western inland centers.
The program combined visits to leading research institutions, innovative enterprises, and cultural landmarks with science communication and volunteer service. Participants described the experience as eye-opening and transformative, noting that it offered a new perspective on modern China and a deeper understanding of how technological advancement and cultural heritage are closely interconnected.
