Leading researchers, academicians, and business innovators from China, Hungary, Russia and other Central and Eastern European countries gathered in Weihai for the High-Value Innovation Cooperation Conference between China and Central and Eastern Europe. The event, co-hosted by the Central and Eastern Europe—China Science and Technology Exchange Association and the International Society of Bionic Engineering, showcased the growing potential for cross-border innovation and industrial collaboration.
Under the theme “Connecting Central and Eastern Europe, Building a New Future for Science and Technology Cooperation,” the conference focused on translating research into practical applications in intelligent manufacturing, bionic engineering, biomedicine, and modern agriculture. Participants explored opportunities for joint projects, technology transfer, and sustainable industrial development.
A highlight of the conference was the launch of the Golden Bridge Program – Shandong–Central and Eastern Europe Science and Technology Support Initiative, designed to support European researchers visiting China for technical exchange, on-site collaboration, and partnership development. The program aims to strengthen high-level scientific collaboration and accelerate the commercialization of research outcomes.
The conference also announced the creation of the Central and Eastern Europe–China Science and Technology Innovation Data Center, a platform to facilitate cross-border technology matching and long-term cooperation. Experts highlighted the strong industrial foundations of Central and Eastern European countries in automotive manufacturing, precision machinery, electronics, biomedicine, and agri-food processing, which complement Chinese research priorities and innovation ecosystems.
Multiple thematic sessions addressed industry–academia–research integration, green agriculture, and bionic technology development. Several international and Chinese companies expressed concrete intentions to collaborate, reflecting the conference’s impact on fostering practical innovation, international technology transfer, and sustainable economic growth.
The Central and Eastern Europe—China Science and Technology Exchange Association emphasized its continued role as a bridge connecting global innovation, industry, and talent, supporting initiatives that bring research from the lab to real-world applications.
