Dongchangfu District and Siófok Deepen China–Hungary Friendship

Siófok, Hungary | November 28, 2025 — The Hungarian lakeside city of Siófok, located on Lake Balaton, marked its annual City Day with international guests, highlighting the growing ties between Dongchangfu District of Liaocheng, China, and Siófok.

At the invitation of Dr. Róbert Lengyel, Mayor of Siófok, Jiao Chao, President of the Central and Eastern Europe—China Science and Technology Exchange Association (CEECSTE), attended the celebrations. During the event, Mayor Lengyel and Jiao exchanged commemorative gifts, symbolizing the strengthening friendship between the two cities.

Jiao participated as a witness and facilitator of the sister-city relationship established earlier this year. In May, Dongchangfu District and Siófok formally became sister cities, opening a new channel for local-level cooperation between China and Hungary.

The visit included participation in cultural exhibitions and civic ceremonies, offering an opportunity for direct cultural exchange and reinforcing the transition from formal agreements to people-to-people interaction.

Both sides expressed interest in further cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, advanced manufacturing and cultural tourism, underlining the role of city-to-city partnerships in fostering long-term international friendship.
