Preliminaries of the 7th China (Jinan) New Energy Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Held in Budapest

On September 27, 2024, the Central European Division preliminaries of the 7th China (Jinan) New Energy Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition were successfully held in Budapest, Hungary. The competition was organized by the Jinan Municipal Government and hosted by the Central and Eastern Europe-China Science and Technology Exchange Association (CEECSTE), the Laiwu District People’s Government, and the Jinan Overseas Chinese Federation.

Focus Areas and Participation

The competition concentrated on key areas, including:

• Big Data and New-Generation Information Technology,
• Intelligent Manufacturing,
• Biomedicine,
• New Materials,
• New Energy.

From 224 innovative and entrepreneurial projects submitted by participants from over 20 countries, including China, Hungary, and Germany, 80 projects advanced to the preliminaries. Ultimately, 15 projects secured their spots in the Jinan finals.

The event attracted more than 80 attendees, including:

• Local Hungarian representatives,
• Members of the overseas Chinese community in Hungary,
• International students,
• Expert judges,
• Representatives of the participating projects.

Speeches were delivered by:

• Han Dongsheng, Counselor of the Cultural and Educational Section of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Hungary, and
• Kőszegi Zoltán, Mayor of Dabas.

Both speakers highlighted the significance of strengthening China-Hungary cooperation across multiple fields and encouraged participants to embrace the spirit of innovation.
